Mario H. Nunes, 91, of Pawtucket died Tuesday at the VA Medical
Center in Providence. He was the husband of the late Dorinda
(Botelho) Nunes. Mr. Nunes was born in Pinheiro daBemposta,
Portugal. A son of the late Albino & Ana (Marques) Nunes. He
came to this country 75 years ago settling in Pawtucket. Mr.
Nunes owned and operated the Mahogany Club of Pawt., the
Silver Star Cafe of Pawt. and the Main St. Cafe of Pawt. from
which he retired from in 1968. He was a member of Uniao
Portuguese Beneficente Club in Pawt. He enjoyed refurbishing
automobiles. He served in the QuarterMasters Corps in the U.S.
Army in the European Theater in WWII. He is survived by several
nieces & nephews. He was the brother of the late Jose Nunes,
David Nunes & Maria Martins. A funeral service will be held Friday
at 9am from the Merrick R. Williams Funeral Home 530 Smithfield
Ave. Pawt. Calling hours Thursday 5-8pm. Burial with military
honors will be in Mount St. Mary Cemetery, Pawt. In lieu of
flowers, donations in Mr. Nunes's name may be made to Disabled
