Lillian Bastow, born on 30 January 1933, the daughter of the late
John Henry Bastow and Olive Burns of Pawtucket, RI, and long
time resident of Golden Crest Nursing Centre, died late Friday (28
August) at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence, RI of
kidney complications. Lillian is survived by her first cousin, Joel
Bastow, of Columbia, Maryland and several second cousins,
including Nancy Vogelman, of Annandale, VA. Lillian was a
graduate of the Charles E. Shea Senior High School (formerly
Pawtucket West) and a one time employee of Brown & Sharpe.
Although unpublished, Lillian was a prolific short story writer,
specializing in children's stories. Her works were enjoyed, not only
by local elementary school children, whose teachers were (by
request) on distribution for her latest stories, but also her stories
were enjoyed by friends, relatives and her fellow residents and
staff at the Golden Crest Nursing Centre. Lillian's funeral will be
held at 12:00 (noon) on Saturday 5 September at the Merrick
Williams Funeral Home at 530 Smithfield Avenue. Pawtucket, RI.
We welcome Lillian's current and former friends, neighbors, co-
workers and school friends, etc. to come to the 11:00 AM viewing
to share remembrances with relatives of Lillian.
